4-H Youth Development

The 4-H Youth Development program creates opportunties and supportive environments for youth and adults to become capable, competentand caring citizens.  The emphasis is on "hands-on" learning that focuses on the youth's area of interest.  Programs are conducted with help of parents, adult volunteer leaders, and professional staff who organize educational experiences. Youth participate in organzied 4-H clubs, special interest and project groups, 4-H school enrichment programs, 4-H camp, and other special activities.

Powell County 4-H Introduces

Robotics Clubs to Clay City & Stanton Elementary Schools!

4-H Robotics Club presentation at Clay City Elementary for the Powell Co. Board of Education Meeting on April 14, 2014.  Our robotics clubs at Clay City Elementary and Stanton Elementary as well as our STEM summer day camp were made possible through a mentoring grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice through the National 4-H Council and the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service - State 4-H Program.  Students are very excited about these hands on learning opportunities.  We would like to thank our club leaders Ms. Richardson and Mrs. Ballard at Clay City Elementary and Mrs. Barnett at Stanton Elementary; our mentors, Donovan Poe, Leslie Stewart, Logan Stewart and J.C. Edwards.  And a very special thanks to Mr. Tate, Powell County Schools Superintendent,  for his willingness to participate in the girls robotics demonstration.  Click the link below to view the video of the demonstration!
